Relational
Therapy

Ongoing support for relational and nervous system work, for people in and out of relationships of all kinds.

Is this where you are?

Authenticity is easy alone.

It is in the presence of other people that the old pull to adapt comes back. Relational work is where self trust stops being a concept and becomes something you have actually done.

Self trust is built in company, not in isolation.

  • You get very agreeable exactly when you are most upset.
  • You read the room before you decide what you feel.
  • Conflict feels like a threat to the whole relationship.
  • You are navigating a structure that most therapists do not understand.
  • You want closeness and it makes you want to run.

What it is like

Relationships of every configuration.

01

Naming

What is actually happening between you, including the parts that are hard to say out loud.

02

Seeing the pattern

Where each person's adaptations meet, and what happens when they collide.

03

Practicing

New responses tried in the room first, where there is support for them.

04

Carrying it out

The work is only real once it survives an ordinary Tuesday.

Often paired with

Somatic Therapy

Individual work on the adaptations underneath. Often the ground that relational work stands on.

Relational therapy for individuals, couples and partnerships

Relationship work that does not assume a default shape

Most relationship therapy quietly assumes monogamy, two people, and a shared goal of staying together. This is not that. I work with people in relationships of every configuration and with people who are single and trying to understand their patterns before the next one starts.

The work is the same underneath: learning what you do when closeness gets uncomfortable, where you learned to do it, and what becomes possible when you stop.

What we work on

  • The same argument, on a loop, in different clothes.
  • Losing yourself inside a relationship and only noticing afterward.
  • Opening a relationship, closing one, or renegotiating the terms.
  • Jealousy, comparison, and the fear of being replaceable.
  • Communicating a need without first building a case for why you deserve it.
  • Repair after a rupture, including the kind nobody names out loud.

Kink, non monogamy and queer competence

I am a queer, ethically non monogamous, kink and sex positive counselor. You will not spend your first three sessions educating me, and nothing about your structure or your practices will be treated as the presenting problem unless you say it is.

Licensing and logistics

Relational therapy is psychotherapy, available to residents of Ohio, Arizona and Colorado, at $150 per session. If you are partnered, we will discuss early on who is in the room and who holds the clinical record, because that has real consequences and deserves a real conversation.

Take the next step

Start where you are.

If you are not sure whether this is the right fit, start with a conversation. No cost, no commitment.

Somatic and relational therapy are psychotherapy, provided under Annie's counseling licenses to residents of Ohio, Arizona and Colorado.
